Monstera Deliciosa Plant Care Guide

Be still my beating heart! We aren’t shy about how much we love the glossy split green leaves of the Monstera Deliciosa, he is in our top 5 fave plants of allllll time! A good choice for a newbie plant owner cos of how easy going they are, and an essential for the experienced plant lover’s collection cos of how damn big and sexy those lush leaves can get.

Difficulty level – easy

He loves a bright possie but no direct sunlight as it will burn their fabulous leaves. They will also adapt to slightly lower light given time.

Allow the soil to dry out 1 inch between waters. This will mean less watering in cooler months as it will take longer to dry out. And don’t leave water sitting in the drip tray for more than a day or so.

Feed with a slow-release fertiliser once every six months following the instructions on the packet (remember, when you receive a plant from Green Assembly, it has enough slow-release fertiliser to last the first 6 months). During the warmer months, they like a drink of the stinky liquid fish stuff (like Seasol) once a month, again be sure to follow the dilution instructions on the packet. Then sit back and watch him sprout and uncurl fresh new leaves.

They like a snug fitting pot despite being prolific growers, so you will only need to re-pot every 2 years or so. Be sure to only upgrade them to a pot a few inches wider. He will also love you more if you give his leaves a wipe down on occasion to remove dust.
